Andrea Dutton’s main research focuses on establishing the behavior of sea level and polar ice sheets during past warm periods to provide better information about future sea-level rise. Dutton is active in communicating about climate change and sea-level rise to the public and has been extensively quoted and featured in popular media. She also has testified to the U.S. Senate about matters related to climate change and industrial emissions. Dutton is a MacArthur fellow, a Fulbright scholar, and a fellow of the Geological Society of America. She has a bachelor’s degree in music from Amherst College and master’s degree and doctorate in geology from the University of Michigan.
