Position title: Director of Environmental Sustainability for the City of Milwaukee

Erick Shambarger leads Milwaukee’s Environmental Collaboration Office (ECO), which Mayor Tom Barrett created to develop practical solutions that benefit the city’s environment and economy. He is the project manager for Milwaukee’s forthcoming Climate and Equity Plan and led development of the city’s Green Infrastructure Plan in 2019. He oversees all ECO programs, including the Milwaukee Energy Efficiency (Me2) program, Milwaukee Better Buildings Challenge, Water Centric City initiative, and Home Gr/own program. Shambarger also cofounded the Wisconsin Local Government Climate Coalition. He has a bachelor’s degree in social philosophy and writing-in- tensive English from Marquette University, a master’s degree from the La Follette School of Public Affairs, and a certificate in energy analysis and policy from UW–Madison’s Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies.
